Questions about my Tolbunt Polish Chicks

I purchased 2 Tolbunt Polish Chicks. I was told they were 4 weeks old (I have had them 2 weeks now). I have some questions about them. I am a first time chicken owner and have 5 month old silkie and 2 orpingtons. I got these chicks to add to my flock.

How can you tell the sex?

They breeder said they were pullets but I have a feeling they were not being truthful. I know when I purchased my orpingtons they came sexed as pullets. My silkie was not sexed and I didn't know the sex until she got older.

Are they old enough to tell if they will be frizzled or not?

I don't think they are frizzled but the mother Hen was.

I'm afraid at 6 weeks it's a little early to determine gender of them yet. I don't see any wattles on your chicks which is a good sign but the crests make me wonder. Usually an untidy crest means male but this can't be a 100% way to sex them. I've had females with untidy/poor crests. So it can only be a guess.

I'm afraid your chicks are not tolbunt but are of a mixed colour. Here is a tolbunt ~

You can tell if they are going to be frizzle as soon as the feathers start coming through so usually in the first 7-10 days so at the age yours are now if they are smooth they are smooth.

@Yorkshire coop Thank you so much for all the information! I was not expecting to get the color chicks that I got. I thought they would look like the picture you posted. That is what they posted in the add and some were frizzled. I drove 2 hours to get there and just went with that they offered me. I will take a look at the polish thread right now.
