Need advice for hens plucked raw from roosters

Hi all!

We're new to the group and so please forgive me for posting here if this isnt the correct forum. Im sure its been discussed a lot but Im still learning how to use this BB.
Yesterday we rescued a mixed flock of hens who have been with too many roosters. The poor girls have been plucked raw from the roosters, which i know roosters will do while mating, but the poor things are also molting.
They are all young girls, year to year and a half. Friendly birds, almost look thankful to be somewhere anywhere away from the roosters.

Could you all please give us some advice about helping them heal while they molt? Ive never had roosters and my male guineas dont do this to my guinea hens so Im not sure what to do.

Thanks everyone for any advice!

They will heal with time. Provide a higher protein feed while they regrow feathers and they should molt faster.

Here is a link to a pattern to make your own hen saddles.  Not hard.

Also a link to where you can buy them.

If their backs are bare, I'd put saddles on them until the feathers fill in.  This will protect from sunburn/cold and any further injury from pecking, etc.

If you have any wounds, then make sure they are clean, and watch for healing and no infection.  If you have no roosters, then once they feather out  you will probably not have to put them back on again.  Even with rooster(s),  if the roosters aren't too rough and/or the numbers of hens are sufficient, you will probably only have an occasional issue.  You can give them feather-rixer feed, to help with the molt.  Vitamins, electrolites, and probiotics are all helpful for birds that have been or are under stress.
