I found what I believe is a rhode island red chicken. Im not sure the age i believe it to be a hen or pullet l. I was hoping to get advice on what to do and I think it has lice. I found it at the Drs office parking lot the nurse said it had been there two days so I came to help. I also have 4 other free range chickens I know to keep the new chicken separately for atleast a month. But how should I handle the lice to keep it from spreading. And is it a RIR and about what age? Poor thing has had its beak clipped and now is somewhat deformed.

She's a Production Red hen... get some Sevin dust (poultry dust) for the lice and keep her away from your hens and coop until the lice are gone or she'll spread them to the others...

Poor baby, glad she escaped and you found her. Quarantine her - and tend to her AFTER your flock, so you don't spread anything to yours. It would be great if you had two sets of work clothes and shoes - so you don't track any germs back to yours also. You may also worm her under the assumption if someone cut her beak - they really didn't care what happened to her.
