Training your chickens…

I read that you can train your chickens simple commands like to come and stay. Who here has done that and how did you do it. I would really like to teach mine to do that I think that would be really cool. Let me know!

You might like to read through this thread from last year...a member talked about training their chickens to do tricks for food:

Hope that helps. If you train yours, I hope you'll come back here and share what they've learned!

They're definitely motivated by food. I'd love to know how to train them to stay. Does anyone have suggestions for that?

Some training approaches in thread linked below.

Same birds still in service so training can last several years at least.

Make every effort to understand your chicken's biology and the environment that supports it.

I'm just working on training my lil chick chick to perch on my hand, lol and when she gets bigger my arm,so i can walk around with her like a parakeet without her worrying im gonna drop her or she'll fall. I'm still new to owning my own chickens, but i want to try letting mine out for a bit to free range this spring and be able to call them to go in their run. I think my food container may help train, they go nuts and follow me when they see it!
