5 year old black star sex-link hen laid an egg.

If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it. Ester and Brown Betty are the last survivors of six chicks I got 5 years ago, as day old babies. I found Ester in the nest box this morning sitting on a huge clutch of eggs. When I finished gathering the eggs I went back to check on Ester. She was standing up in the nest box but looked strange so I was petting her when all of a sudden she gave a push and out slid her egg. What an amazing girl she is. She has always been my favourite. Way to go Ester.AppleMark

:thumbsup

Was breeding Welsummers and Barnevelders. Not anymore thanks to a bobcat.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.

She looks lusciously healthy!

What has her egg production been like over 5 years?

Great article on VENTILATION, one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of coop design.

Fantastic treatise to help decide how much SPACE your chickens need.

Chicken math is not just 'addition'...but also should include Division, Multiplication and especially Subtraction!!!
