I am new to BYC, although I have been looking things up here since early May. I have 2 Australorps, 2 Black Sexlinks, 2 Americaunas, 2 Guinea Fowl, and a Doe Rabbit. Two of my girls started laying day before yesterday. The Americauna was so proud of what she made; she started talking to me and trying to lead me over to the nesting boxes to show me. I have never had chickens before, but I love them; they all have such big personalities and they do such funny things. I wish I could understand what they are saying because, when I am out there, they all come to me and start chattering and they have so much to tell me.

Congratulations on your first flock and getting that first egg! Both the sex link girls and Australorps are good layers, you'll be getting a lot more eggs once they reach full maturity.

It's nice to have you here, thanks for joining us!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. You must be very easy to talk to. You could surprise them by trying to converse in chicken. Something like "Bawk, Bawk, Bawk BA- GAWK."
