Who laid these eggs?

Thread Starter

Y'all I'm so confused.

These are the hens I have:

Speckled Sussex (Fifi)

Easter Egger (Blanche)

Cuckoo Maran (Bridget)

Barred Rock (Felicia)

Buff Orpington (Ginger)

I'm almost certain the Speckled Sussex is laying the light brown/tan eggs.  I see her laying and then there's an egg.  I know the Barred Rock is laying the darker brown egg, again I've seen her lay as well.  Neither of these lay every day, but sometimes the Speckled Sussex will, sometimes.

I have not seen the other three lay.  So, who is laying the smaller egg and who is laying the white/grey egg?

We bought a house a little over a month ago and they left the chickens for us.  The small egg and the white/grey egg are the only two of it's kind.

Any ideas?

Welcome to BYC!

Those are beautiful eggs and even prettier hens!

Although eggs vary from hen to hen, it looks to me that Fifi and Ginger are laying the light brown eggs, Bridget and Felicia are laying the dark brown eggs and Blanche is laying the greenish/grey eggs. This is just what I know from breed info and experience so I apologize if I got any guesses wrong.

The bluish gray egg is being laid by the EE.

P.S. The small one was most likely a "dud" laid by either Ginger or Fifi. Sometimes hens just lay a smaller or otherwise unusual egg once in a while.

Such small eggs are referred to as 'fart' eggs by many.
