Hello Everyone!

Below is a picture of my 4 month old chicken, Delta. She is the first egg I've ever hatched under a broody hen that lived to adulthood. I have been calling her a girl as that is what I am hoping she is. I can't have a rooster. Delta's egg came from another local backyarder. She said she just had a mix of american breeds so eggs I picked could be any mix. I grabbed about 5. 2 hatched one died soon after. But Delta here made it.

I'm sure there is Ameraucana in her. The egg was green and Delta has the cheeks. But she is much taller than my pure Ameraucana hen. And she has crazy colors. For a while I has pretty sure I had a hen but now she is so big and growing a pretty nice tail. She is neither laying or crowing, but I heard some rooster are late bloomers for greeting the day. She is my most unfriendly chicken but the only one that wasn't a show hen or grew up in my bedroom. So no surprise no matter the gender.

That's an Easter Egger rooster.

Easter Egger male.

Breeder of Dutch bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and a few exhibition rabbits.

Feel free to ask me questions about chicken and rabbit care, breeds, and showing! I'm always happy to help!

Nature's first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf's a flower

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay. --Robert Frost

Thanks everyone! Looks like Delta is going to go find a new home on craigslist. :(
