I got GMO free chicken feed from a local farmer and my layers have been eating that since they were switched to layer feed. I did feed them GMO starter feed. I'm sure the hatchery they came from fed their moms GMO corn. They have also gotten into my compost which I know contains some GMO produce.
Questions:
1. Do hens and roosters have to be GMO free for their offspring to be GMO free.
2. If a hen eats GMOs at any point in it's life, is/are it(or it's eggs) unable to be called GMO free for ever, even if it never eats GMOs again?
3. If I wanted to raise organic chickens and all I have access to is gmo chicks, can I raise them on organic feed and breed them to get organic chickens?
