candling/hatching question

Omg, what a cutie!! :D

As for the female embryos being stronger than males, I hadn't heard that myself before, but I'm inclined to believe it because I had two shipments of duck eggs when I first started my flock. Out of the first batch of 10 eggs only two hatched. A super strong female and a little sickly male who passed away at 3 weeks old. The second batch of 14 eggs I only had one make it. She was the one who started to hatch from the wrong end and I had to very slowly help her hatch when she got hopelessly stuck. She made it and is my favorite duck ever (her baby pic is my avatar). Anyway those two strong survivors (coupled with a male I had to bring in) gave me some really awesome babies this past spring! ALL of their eggs hatched into perfect little ducklings.

Hello hello!!! It's been a while since I've been on! It's been crazy busy around here with all the holidays and I just wanted to give a little update!! Baby girl is doing GREAT! She's getting big and her feathers are well on their way in! I do have a question tho! With it bring winter..how long do is need to wait to move her outside?? She's getting kinda big for her "pen" in my house and as you can imagine,it can get quite stinky if I skip a day cleaning it out. Lol pics to come! :)

@tbevans This may help you decide first week temps in brooder should be between 85-90 and each week there after drop the temp 5* until they are at room temp, but if it's cold where you are and she isn't feathered in then I suggest a larger bin. then once she is completely feathered in you need to acclimate her to temps out doors that means she gets to go outside on nice no windy days when sun is shining so she gets use to outdoor temps.
