Baby chicks

Think I might put the birds in the cat's crate cause I wanna vacuum the bathroom, think they'll be okay for a couple minutes?

A little "ranging" while I clean their brooder. Don't worry, I set up a mini "barricade" so they can't get to the dangerous parts of the bathroom lol they're moving out soon too. They refused to stay in the cat carrier so I compromised.

Just spread some more on the ground in between typing so it's a little more like foraging and a little less like piling in the feeder. Lol and so everyone can get some.

I took the chicks out of the brooder to clean it and they're having sooo much fun. A few are trying to dust bathe in the feed dish LOL

Hello, are you Massachusetts? How old are your chicks now? Congrats! They are adorable! What is your plan for the winter?

I am!! They were hatched October 26th so will be 2 weeks old on Monday. :) Thank you so much I think they are too!! They grow so fast though. :( and not really too sure on winter plans yet. I'm hoping to have the coop built ASAP (really need to get working, growing like weeds) and before the snow falls and then put them out when they are fully feathered like any other time of year (they are hopefully going out to a new brooder in the garage soon once I have it ready so will be used to the temps I think) BUT if all else fails, which it seems like it may, then I might simply clear a much bigger space in the garage and keep them there until spring. Or I may just buy a coop if I run out time. We will see. What I really should have done was built the coop over the summer but I really didn't think plus I didn't even really know I was getting them (I went back and forth multiple times amd wanted them in February but that didn't happen so I just assumed I wasn't getting them this year until I ordered them in September. Whoops. Lol) so yeah, we'll see. Maybe won't have a run until spring though. That will depend too. If they do have a run, I'll probably wind up putting plastic or something up for the winter just to protect them from snow and stuff but I doubt I'll insulate the coop or anything. These are my first chicks so still have a lot to learn. Hah Anyway, thank you. :)

Chickens moved out this morning! Will post pictures later. Gotta get 3 week pics but will tomorrow. I am thinking one or two is a roo. Bright shoulders.
