How long do I keep putting on the ointment?

Until it's healed. If you can get your hands on some Vetericyn wound spray, the stuff is amazing. It is sold at farm supply stores. I like the gel, it sticks to the wounds better. Chickens can heal from some pretty awful wounds. Keep him indoors where flies cannot get to the wounds.

Thanks Happy chooks! I didn't even think about the flies, but he will definitely be staying indoors! I tried to take him out with me today for some fresh air and he was a nervous wreck. He apparently remembers whatever happened...
He has a dog crate, but he won't let me put him down. If I set him down he starts screeching until I pick him back up. He's sitting in my lap right now.
Gotta go to the farm store for some turkey chow tomorrow any way, so I'll check for that stuff while I'm there. Right now I'm using the cheap no-name neosporin twice daily. He seems to be doing fine. He's preening himself right now. He won't touch his left side where all the punctures are, but he's cleaning his right side.
He's a little fighter. He wouldn't eat when he just hatched and I had to force-feed him egg yolk and yogurt for the first week of his life. We've been through a lot together. He's only six months old. I've always wanted him to be a house chicken, and maybe now would be a good start for that. He is soooo sweet it's amazing. Probably because of all the extra time I spent with him as a chick. He's a little runt, much too small for the breeds he's mixed with. I absolutely love this boy, and will definitely look into veteriycin. It'll be nice to have around, something's always happening, but this is the worst yet.
Currently uploading pics of what I hope is bruising.

These aren't the best pics, but you can kinda see the discolouration. He keeps jumping when I get close to it, which isn't surprising cause I'd imagine it hurts pretty bad.

I was thinking about removing the feathers, but because he's molting they are mostly blood feathers. if I cut them, he will bleed. Would it hurt terribly to pluck them?

Hey guys! Just wanted to update y'all on Quasar! He is doing great now. He is back outside, and grew all his feathers back except where the actual wounds were. He never got infected, and now seems to be better than ever. He has been in a large pen by himself sense he went back out, but I am about to try to get him in with some hens.
