I bought these at a few days old and was told they are English Orpingtons. I had a lady tell me the other day that they are not, so I am maybe confused. And also I think they are all pullets and just want to verify? Any friendly opinions welcomed Please and Thank you!

Cant help you on the breed but sure looks like a pullet , not cockerel. What did the mystery person think it was??? Why cant it be what the seller said it to be ???

Lets see what others think.

WISHING YOU BEST

I see now only one of my pics uploaded. I will try to add the other also.
I had no reason to doubt the man I think he is a very honest person and highly respected around our area, everyone goes to him for what they want and if he does not have it he does his best to locate it! She said that my chick has random black feathers which means it is not orpington. I do see that this chick has some feathering that is darker however it is darker grey not black. But I don't know if that means anything or not so I wanted some opinions. So thank you very much for your thoughts. I think she is a pullets as well, but I am keeping no matter what end result is. again thanks.

That lady was incorrect. Any bird, even breeder stock, is liable to have an off-colored feather or two. Looks like one Splash (a color in which a few darker feathers here and there is actually completely normal) and one Blue, and they both look like Orps. It's a bit early to be 100% sure, especially with slow growers like Orps, but there's nothing screaming cockerel, so I'm gonna say you have 2 beautiful pullets at the moment.

What the queen said :). The woman probably just doesn't know they come in more colours than black!

I don't know a lot about orpingtons but I do know they remind me of australorps and so do your birds so I'd guess they are exactly what he said. You have a splash and a blue.

Looks like two blue Orp pullets to me

The second bird definitely had a "better" color. The darker shade, with the lacing on the edges is what's desired for a good blue color. The first bird is kind of on that border between blue and splash.

after breeding some blue mixed breed birds, I have a lot of respect for folks who get that nice color with good lacing. My blue birds have been all over the place as far as color.

For backyard birds, they're lovely and will be a great flock for you. Were you breeding blue Orpingtons, you probably would not want to use the first bird unless she developed some stellar type, etc that compensated for her less than ideal color. And that may well be why the seller sold her to you, if the seller is breeding quality birds she'll sell the birds she doesn't want to breed as backyard layers. It's a nice way for you to get a nice looking bird!
