I had a very healthy Pioneer hen. She was only 2 years old and very healthy. She had been sneezing alot and sometimes breathing with her mouth open. I found her on the ground dead! I don't know what happened to her. Also some of my other chickens have been breathing with there mouth open and having some nasal discharge and I'm really worried about them. What do they have? Thanks!
 
Oh dear, sorry to hear that. No great advice I'm afraid but I'll give you a bump so hopefully someone who knows sees and can help. Whatever it is sounds contagious :-(
 
It is probably a chronic respiratory disease, but to make sure, I would refrigerate her body and ship it or take it to the state veterinarian or local vet college for a necropsy. Antibiotics may help treat symptoms, but chickens can remain carriers for life with some diseases. Bronchitis, MG, coryza, ILT, and aspergillosis are some of the common ones. Sorry for your loss.
