My Hen is Walking Backwards

Pics
Mine is doing the same. But she also has become broody. So I’ve given her eggs to sit on. I
Notice she does it after she drinks. It’s very odd. Glad not just my hen being odd

I know this is an old thread but will respond in this thread rather than start a new one since there is plenty of valuable information already in this thread.

My Ayam Cemani hen just started walking backwards today. She is young and just started laying 2 weeks ago. She lays an egg a day and is still on the starter/grower feed, which I was going to switch to the layer feed as soon as this bag is empty. My flock consists of 2 Ayam Cemani chickens. One is a rooster and the other is the hen. The rooster is much larger than the hen (see below image) so my only guess might be that maybe he hurt the hen in some way when trying to breed with her. Looks like she has maybe a stiff back or neck that is making her walk backwards. The only thing that I've done differently is clip both of their wings last night before putting them into the coop. They were starting to fly over the 6ft fence into the front yard and the day before yesterday a stray dog almost got my hen.

I'm going to monitor her closely today and see if I notice anything else and will let you know.

I just spent about 15 mins with both of them outside and she hasn't walked backwards in the time I was outside with her. Weird. I know I'm not crazy since there is a complete thread on this matter. When she started walking backwards she had just stood up from laying sideways in her fav dust bathing hole. Maybe she had some dust in her ear.....who knows!

I have a 10 month old Easter egger hen who has been walking backward for months now. I switched back to grower feed for protein and add vitamin to water...no change. If anything she does it more often. would love an answer. shes normal in between.

I have a one year old white leghorn who does that…always has. She is fine. She just walks a few steps backwards, backs in to something, and then moves on normally. When she was very young I noticed it. She just does everything normally, but I think she is just really submissive because it happens most often when I pet her or if she gets too close to the other 5 chickens.
