Under Developed Egg

I have found a yellow yolk like substance in a nest box, Its the second time i have found it, its almost like the the yolks been separated from the whites and the shell and only the yolk is presence, My 16 hens are 27 weeks old and all laying accept four, is this a under developed egg?

The egg may have been from a new layer, soft and thin shelled eggs are not uncommon in the first month or so of laying.........they are easily broken and often eaten in part or whole.

 

I suspect that is what you are seeing.
