I have a 24 week old Svarthöna (Swedish Black Hen) pullet that needs a pet home. She should start laying soon. She has a mild crossbeak, but is able to eat and drink fine on her own. Due to the crossbeak, she can not be used for breeding.
Svarthöna are a very rare, all black (feathers, eyes, comb, wattles, skin, bones, meat, etc.) breed from Sweden. They are a small breed and lay a small cream colored egg. They are not real good layers as they like to go broody often. They are reported to lay about 100-160 eggs per year. Typically they lay about 25-30 eggs and then go broody for a few weeks and then repeat. Being from Sweden, they are quite cold hardy and are excellent free-rangers.
She is available for local pick-up in Sparta, KY. I can also meet in Florence, KY and surrounding areas. NO SHIPPING.
