Hey BYC folks,
Plans drawn up for coop/run. Coop 7X7 and attached run 7X20. Cinder blocks for foundation being delivered tomorrow. The rest 75% recycled/recovered. Fully insulated and well ventilated. Expect to have 8 chicks early spring (gives me all winter to construct). Looking forward to all the expertise and advice from more seasoned members on BYC. Haven't had hens since I was knee high to a boll weevil. Should be a wonderful experience for me and my 4 children.

Hi!

Welcome! It sounds like you are off to a great start! chickens are such a wonderful hobby to share with children! Great idea to plan and build BEFORE the littles arrive! Some of us did that backwards.

Be sure you check out the Learning Center if you haven't yet. So much information available there for coop design, choosing breeds etc. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
Best of luck to you!

Frankhenchicken, I love your user name. Welcome to Backyard chickens, hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I want to apologize for certain greeters who must have too much caffeine in the morning to behave themselves. I am fully de-caffeinated so I'm fine.
