Incubator Thermometers Recommendations

Hi there! I am wondering what kind of thermometers you all use for incubation. I had been using the one that came with the incubator (think it's Mercury) I tried to calibrate it as well as I good, it just had the cardboard backing to adjust. Then it was recommended that I get a Brinsea Spot Check. Well, since using that, and keeping it at 99.5 many of my eggs seem to be dying! When compared to the one that came with the incubator, it reads higher. Brinsea 99.5 and the other in the low 90's. Not sure if it very accurate! The reason I switched is because it seemed like my eggs were trying to pip to early.

Id suggest adding a third thermometer - you will then know which temps are likely to be accurate.

I'm on my second incubation with quail. In everything that I've learned and studied and done, this is the only thing that confuses me and pisses me off. With all of our technology how is it that I cannot find an accurate thermometer? And why should I have to calibrate one? The thermometers I bought off amazon were well reviewed but have been inaccurate. One thermometer says 100.4, the other 99.1. I have to just guess, and probably lose 20-25% of my eggs due to this, and another 20% have to be culled due to developmental problems related to inaccurate heat. I hate to spend $30 on the brinsea spot check, but I think I'll have to. That's what many people on these forums use.
