hen or rooster?

hi, I got five classroom chicks in early June, and ALL FIVE turned outto be roosters!! They all crowed at 7-8 weeks old, which is unheard of, according to my internet search. They went to a farm, where they actually wanted some roosters, which is unheard of too. I then got some sexed pullets from a local poultry farm after summer. Yes, you do need to do things right when you introduce new pullets to your flock. Best is to have them live alongside the flock, behind fencing for a week or two, then introduce them to each other when they have lots of space, for example while they free range. That worked for me. Mine are still separate flocks, in that the new flock has their own coop and still goes to their own coop at night. They share run and yard space with the old flock. Good luck!
