They say .... : "No mutation of color or pattern in the Pavo muticus families !"

So, Pavo muticus javanensis.

Little is known about the origin of the picture!
In a Zoo / bird park in Indonesia.
The photografe (a young woman) put as a comment: If Cantik .... beautiful in Indonesian.
Unable to find another picture of this peahen on the net!

Some say it's a spalding!

To create a high % spalding is a full time job ....no place for chance! .... how many generations ?
.... to get a 8 /7.9999 spalding !

Some would argue that in nature there are green peacocks with some white feathers!

But these peacocks have no patch on the neck!

Others will say that it is a disease ... discoloration ....a pied progressive !
The peahen does not look like that!



That is what looks like a high percentage split white Spalding :

 
I'm not so sure about the purity of the peahen in the first photo but I think I do recall some saying that even wild green peafowl sometimes have a few white feathers.

That peahen with all of the white feathers was behaving like a pied progressive. She started out with just a few white feathers and became more and more white. It was a very interesting topic and I know people have said that the white feathers are from a lack in nutrition but usually the people with the birds growing white feathers are feeding them better than ones without white feathers so that shouldn't be it.

I saw some greens that looked very pure to me with a few random white feathers which I thought odd. Here are some hens with random white feathers.


 
That's epistasis !
It is true that this has nothing to do with the diet as in a group very often it is the females who have white feathers ... not males!

For this picture .... the important thing is WHERE it has been taken !
In a small zoo in the depths of indonesia ... it's not the same thing as in a flock of an US farmer who manipulates genes since generations!

.... the investigation continues!
 
An other strange picture i found on FB :

They say it's an arlequin peacock .... pied peacock !
But i see silver feathers ... a lot of silver feathers ! So i thing it's a Blue silver pied !
But with this Blue crest it's impossible ... silver pied has white eyes every where ! and so many bleu color on the face and neck !

I found a white feather on one of my greens, IMO these random white feathers are coming from domestication, read up on how wild animals such as foxes started to develop white marking within like 10 years, this how proved that evolution does not need a 1000 years for things to change because in 2 decades they begin to develop many more colors with now domesticated foxes
