Well... Not exactly strays, they have an owner but he just lets them run loose... They aren't nice to humans either... The dogs, anyway. I do call the police when chicken killers come around.

Forget the police; they got other fish to fry.  Call Animal Control if you don't want to handle the problem yourself

The police got aholt of AC and removed 2 other killers.... Good thing too, cuz those ones knew I had chickens...

My neighbor who used to own the chicken killer has another dog, a beagle, supposed to be a hunter but she protects the chickens! She found an injured one and went over to make sure it was okay....

and she alerts humans when those dogs come around. Doesn't even bother the bantams.
There's a good bit of difference between a hunting dog and a killer dog. Hunting dogs do it for thrill of the chase, killers do it for the thrill of killing.

Well it's not always puppies and rainbows here on the farm. We had a disaster in one of our brooder pens. (20) 3wk old chicks dead. Trampled and crushed. Not sure why they huddled so tight to do this. Irrelevant now. Never ever had a mass crushing and been doing this a long time. You always get one or two weak ones maybe but to have 20 still blows my mind. These were replacements to go back into breeding pens. We dug 2 more out of the pile that were alive so we'll see if they make it.
Trampled and crushed? As in each other?

You'd better believe it! I love dogs...bred & raised them for 40+ years, but they wouldn't get a 2nd chance to kill my stock before I introduced them to my brother, Winchester

It's only a matter of time though. And my fence is unburied. Coop is pretty sturdy, though....

You are correct... it's only a matter of time. Once they've got a taste for blood, they won't stop.

:( yep... I'm slowly rolling rocks around the entire fence perimeter and no free ranging!

I had both. One ripped apart my neighbor's 45 lb turkey...

Shoulda clarified, she's a rabbit dog and chases ducks, but won't catch them and not chickens.... She knows chickens are a no-no.

You know how you'll get a weak one in the middle of the pile and they'll walk all over it until it's dead? Yep 20X. Just walked out to the brooder house and all pens are normal. Can't explain it, definitely bazaar.
