Tried to dig in and tripped the trap from the outside.Duh! I keep meaning to post! Something tripped the trap, and either tried to dig in, or was small, and dug out.
Is that the same scat you posted a picture of yesterday but you pulled it apart?

Grubs, to get rid of moles, get rid of grubs in your yard.
The longer they're broody, the harder they can be to break. Some never come out of it.

Had I not included that something small had been inside, someone would have bitten my head off for not considering it.
Really? If they are eating the icky things, they can stay.
Then that someone doesn't know anything about trapping animals.
Digging and tripping it from the outside can be solved by blocking off access to the sides. Don't restrict access so much that the trap doesn't work though.
I haven't had grubs or Moles since I got chickens
