Hi all! Popping in quick before bed. No new hatched chicks, so 4 still with us. 6 Giants total now. SOOOOOOO HAPPY!Guineas are going to a new home tomorrow for my son's sake.He has trouble sleeping with the racket. So once he moves out whenever that may be I may try them again, but a dozen away from the chickens so they can be the gangsters they should be.

Hope and pray everyone and their families, flocks, friends, pets are safe and healthy. Hugs and good night.

Good night!

Hi All!

I have a building I use as a 4 way coop.  2 bottom shelves have outdoor access, and 2 top shelves do not.  I recently reorganized and moved all the babies out of the top 2 shelves.  I didn't clean them right away.  It's been about 2 1/2 weeks since I emptied the birds, and as I tried to clean it this morning.I took out the bricks that had been holding the water containers.  The hay and poo that was behind the brick was still a little damp - I had knocked over the water container when I was catching the babies to move them.  I found small, thin, white worms crawling around in the poo.

I spent the day looking at fresh poo - no sign of worms.  The bulk of the babies that I took out of that coop are in the mobile pen I moved over to a friend's house.  I've been keeping an eye on those chicks since I only get over there twice a day - I have seen no signs of worms.  The poo was a little runny the first couple of days, considering the move and the heat wave we've been going through.  But, the last week or so, it's been normal.

So, do I de-worm all the chickens, or do I just add some ACV to the water?  Just because it was in an empty coop, does that mean the chickens are infested?

Thanks!!!

I would go with fly larvae. Or some other kind of icky thing that isn't from the chickens.

Yes I can!

I made some a while ago, but it was so expensive, even with grinding my own...... :/

It is expensive. I usually buy it from Amazon in a 4 pack. I have found a few recipes that use almond flour and coconut flour (coconut flour is cheaper). I will get my recipe out and send to you tomorrow :)

Must be something in the water. Good thing they are all sweethearts to deal with.
