Hiya, doku! Yes, the chicks will draw all blood out of the veins before hatching, and if it's rocking it's still alive... or about to explode. I'm leaning towards it still being alive and moving into hatching position.

Not serious... just trying to get a grin out of you!Thank you! That sure sounds promising
When you mentioned the egg exploding, even in my nervous/impatient state I laughed. Haha... unless you were serious...
Well , we are getting closer, Monday should have chicks, This time Haven't candled, only time I opened the incubator was if humidity got down to about 25%, so we added a bit of water then about 3 times was all. this figuring it out at high altitudes is driving me insane. We have a few chicks we got hatched though over the winter and the they are doing really good. It's what kept me trying, they will get a candle just before they go into lock down. I ever get this perfected at high altitudes in a LG forced air will be tickled

sweet!!! let me know what you set and I will add to the update!I am going to set the eggs from my Seramas tonight. Don't want them getting to old. I will set more as the hens lay
@butterfliesdoku Welcome!!! you may find some answers here...... it will internal pip rest and then external rest while its absorbing....... please read the red link on time frames, if your running late perhaps you had a bit too low temps or high humidity? had you calibrated thermo and hygros?Hey everyone, this is my first time with a successful incubation and I was wondering if the chicks absorb the veins before hatching? Like all veins? Because of my tiny set up I am able to candle without lifting the top and i noticed fewer veining but there is still just a bit of veins left. Today is day 21. The egg rocked earlier today so I think it's still alive.

gotta keep a sense of humor with chickens, especially if they end up like ours, they don't subscribe to following the chicken rule book, the hens are funny to watch fishing from the ditch when it's not froze overThank you! That sure sounds promising

Okay, I'll give you the benefit of doubt here...
Thas' why I joined Sally's processing thread, I'm going to have to do it eventually if I wanna keep hatching chicks. Not processing my banties though, I draw the line there!

If I had to count on banties for food, I'd just raise quail. Good call on that one!!!
well the ones we hatched in the incubator don't think they should eat chicken food, they took after son's dog and want table food instead, if I would give them a chair at the table they would be quite happy, the pullets like plastic bags more than styrafoam, and think they can take out the 2 Labs for table scaps lol, will try to break into the fridge as they know thats where the yogurt is kept. Funniest thing I've seen them do is try to use the 2 labs as horsesThe only rule that never seemes to bend is that they have a thing for styrofoam.
My chickens are weird too, they dont like BOSS...
