Good morning, M'Lady... I hope it's nothing serious and you get well soon. I must go out and labor today, but I'm looking forward to this evening... and candling. Anxious to see how my chickies are coming along after two weeks. I sneaked a peek at a couple of the eggs two days ago, and they looked good. Hoping my air cells look good, as they seemed a bit small after the first candling. Only adding water to the smallest ring (center), and letting it run dry before adding more. I hope I've managed a decent balance since the humidity normally runs in the upper 40's when I add the tiniest amount of water. I've let it drop to around 25% a few times to try to increase air cell size, and this evening will yield the results of my efforts. I think I'll be covering part of the water wells on the next batch to control the humidity a little better. I hope everyone has a great day, or night, depending on your location. TTFN!!!

I'll do all I can to kick the can down the road... err... help keep the thread moving. I don't have the treasure trove of GIFs handy as you do, so it'll be hard to fill your spot. Just get better and get back to what you do so well... entertain and educate we common people! LOL!!!

where you get all these charts . we're trying something new a relaxing oil . some kind of herbal stuff . put it on thirty minutes ago seems to be working . on me anyway . I'm relaxed . can't quiet make out the smell . print on the bottle is to small to read .oil of cloves is in it and tea tree oil I know those smells . my hands smell like a baked ham and that's after I washed them .:sick  and my eyes are burning .that could cause I'm sleepy though . lots of rain today . wish it would go away .

If you have a smell that you don't like with oils you can put them on your feet and then socks. It masks the smell quite well and the large pores on your feet suck up the oils. Also, to kill that smell add vegetable oil with a lemon slice and rub all on your hands. I have troble sleeping and use cedarwood oil on my feet (I hate the smell) and it really helps relax me!

I have an 11" x 16" Sweeter Heater (top of pic), which is supposed to be good for 32-36 chicks. It's hanging high right now, but I'll drop it down in time for the chicks.
Good. After trying the heating pad cave, I'll never use a lamp again, unless I'm brooding a mega bunch of chicks.

Any tips on sexing rir chicks?
I've heard that the RIR with the striping on the head are ALWAYS girls. But if they don't have the striping, they could be male or female.

well do it work . I can't sex a chick maybe I can sex an egg .
My hatch rate before choosing rounder eggs consisted of 40% pullets. By choosing rounder eggs, I'm now getting 60% pullets. Old wives tale? Maybe. But, last 3 hatches have consistently given my the higher percent of pullets. I'll take all the help I can get in that area!

ITS MISSING GET IT

I have others, lol...

Those charts along with a nice write up of explanation are in the "Sex Linked Information" thread. That's an awesome thread, and what I used to choose my starter flock for my mixed gene pool. Jack is throwing some awesome sex links with my Doms and SLW. Nice combs, nice egg color.

I have an easier solution... nose plugs. Sorry, I couldn't resist! LOL!!!
