This is Chopper. She is part of the reason that I went out with my husband! I saw her in the pickup. She was so beautiful, I just had to have her!
She was such a great girl! I was able to train her so easily! While all I did was teach her basic manners, and strengthen her recall, it was just so easy!
I do love a good bird dog! She was pretty.

Got a little more done on the refrigerbator. The first fan I installed didn't move nearly enough air, so I installed a smaller, higher CFM fan and got the temp between the top and lower rack within 2 degrees F. This is without a thermostat, and I'm confident once the lights aren't running constantly the fan will circulate enough air to give a more uniform temp throughout the bator. I ordered one of these, which has .1F accuracy:

(this one actually comes with a 110V socket, not the universal socket pictured. $23 & free shipping on ebay.)

I also picked up a couple of 11"x11" double-strength glass panes from the building supply store, cut a hole in the door, and installed the inner viewing pane with aquarium silicone sealant. I'll give it at least 24 hours to cure before flipping it over to install the outer pane and a few fasteners:

Spring is officially here:

PS & FYI: If you are burning two 60W Halogen bulbs in your refrigerbator without a thermostat... and leave for half an hour... you run the risk of blowing up one of your thermometers:

I siliconed the outer pane of glass on the door this morning and it cured much faster than anticipated, so I installed the door to see how it was going to work out. Looks like it's going to be just right for viewing, though I didn't quite get the hole perfectly square to the door. The height will be perfect for the height of the egg turners (3"), which are yet to be ordered. Here's a sneak peek:

You can seperate her for a bit in a warm dry place and see what happens first. I always start with that and chicken gaterade... Then decide on further actions. Good luck.
what us the chicken Gatorade? I have corrid si it is easier to just dose them. I don't have the space or energy left for more special needs chickens. The weather is not going to get better soon so sink or swim. The coop is good sized and half the run and under the coop is covered. They can't be hot house flowers. Shoot it is rainy, but 56 at 9:00.

Sounds like you got it all under control.

I see you have a board around your run. How did you do that and still allow for water to get out and keeping predators out? I am thinking I will dig and put a section of pipe under an edge with a cover/grate. What do you think?

I would never consider having a hunting/bird/gun dog on purpose. That is funny, because English pointers are really great with children. They are recommended for about three years and up because of their exuberance, but Chopper would have been awesome with Duckling! I have experience with Brittanies too. Wasn't so impressed. Anyway, they deserve to be worked. If I were looking for a new dog, and saw one at the pound I would get it to save it from certain death. But I wouldn't actually get one of Sally's dogs as a pet.

Who is it with HRIR? I noticed mine looking a little brick-y today. One of the pullets was a little lean and gangly, but she's filled out and now I don't know which one it was.

I've caught the roo mounting anything with a pulse, so now I'm tempted to move them to their own pen.
