CONGRATS beautiful!!!!!!!

Hatching is so amazing I am so hooked but I only have time to check the incubator temp about twice a day and make small adjustments and s for humidity it is very arid here and I can't fret too much about it I throw in few wet sponges during lockdown not being home much means I just have to trust the process and equipment... Having quit smoking this year (106 days) after having been a smoker for over 30 years I actually feel less stressed for the first time ever in my life. Life is good! Ok gotta go work on my 2 new chicken pens laters all have a fantastic day and be awesome!
Great job on the quitting!!!! THATS AWESOME!!! GO YOU!!!!!!!!!

I feel like such a dummy. My boy who has slowly been getting worse over time has lice! I'm still taking his poo to the vet but I'm going to mix up some of my permethrin concentrate and treat for lice. I can apply it directly to the bird right? Once it's diluted?
your not dumb!!! they can be boogers to see!!

Babies are hatching! At least 10 are out so far

MARKING AIR CELLS DAY 18, DRAW DOWN, INTERNAL PIP, EXTERNAL PIP, and ZIPPING post #35770
Birds are as dusted as I could get them being only me and not wanting to overly stress them. Hopefully I will see Gordon perk up in the next few hours.

Thank you again @casportpony

1 hatched, another piped! Yay

GREAT NEWS!!!!
@chicken hawk 33 , are you feeding your gosling chick starter of something made for waterfowl? I ask because I think that geese need more niacin than chickens, so you might want to look into supplementing niacin if you're feeding chick starter.

Look at this!

This is a box I mailed to LA. It took 10 days to get there. No eggs were broken, so all the wet looking gunk is something else....

I would totally try for an insurance claim on this one, but the buyer didn't present it, so I'm not sure if I can. I think I'll try anyway.....
I would do it!! How many eggs were in the box?

@chicken hawk 33

WHEN USING UNMEDICATED CHICK STARTER/GROWER FEED:
These feeds are formulated for chickens which have lower niacin requirements than ducks, therefore supplemental niacin should be given either in water or feed. 100 mg of niacin dissolved in a gallon of water from 0-8 weeks while being fed chick starter/grower. Niacin is available in tablet or powder from drugstores. HIGH levels of niacin CAN BE TOXIC so don’t exceed dosages. Brewer's yeast is a good safe source of niacin. 70mg diet recommended for starting and for growing/finishing ducks. Ducks and turkeys with a niacin deficiency show a severe bowing of the legs and an enlargement of the hock joint.

:frow Hi Sally! Glad to have you back with us today and good to hear your husband is resting at home and on the mend :hugs Oh boy do we have predators here! 2 sides of our property border a creek and it's like a wildlife superhighway. We have a heavy fox population with multiple den entrances surrounding our pasture... last spring we had babies playing back there and saw 3 adults. Also have Coopers Hawks, coyotes, and raccoons. My Amish neighbor lost 14 chickens in one day last summer

SWEETNESS

Quote:

Never leave ducklings unattended near water sources they can't stand up in as they are WITHOUT the protective oils produced by the Mother and can tire quickly and drown. Once they are fully feathered, depending on the type of duck, full feathers should be in place by 9-12 weeks of age they are safe to be in water. For your duck's swimming area, provide a ramp leading in and out of the water. Ducks can sustain serious leg injuries climbing in and out of a pool. If you have other adult ducks in the pond/water source, be AWARE older adult ducks can kill ducklings by trying to drown the younger ducks.
A great starter swim is a tapered paint roller tray!
