Personally, the dog was shown a chick right away. Better to lose a chick than adolescent or adult.
You aren't attached, and you don't have $$ invested in feed.
as I'm moving the chicks from incubator to brooder, the dog (and cats if nearby) gets to sniff and/or lick each baby. She loves them all and would never hurt them. Cats probably would.

Help!!! This is my first time incubating, got one of the lil giant incubators from tractor supply, I've got the temp at 99.5 but I can't get the humidity below 49%, started the incubation on 3-18-16, I'm not even sure if I'm posting on the right spot :(

Awesome!! news!! I actually use a layer of wax paper and then two layers of papertowels over it so I can add a boost of humidity.

UPDATE?  @angelikimarie

You're in the right spot. What have you tried?

Possible to tell the gender of a chicken before it hatches

Sadly not otherwise the hatcheries would not bother with hatching 50% boys.

That said some people swear that the shape of the egg, or dangling magnets can indicate sex. Again time has not really proven those ideas to be true for the VAST amount of people. However, people who want to believe will still believe....

Still air LG? Hmm, that sounds a bit low for temp. Are your thermos and hygros calibrated? (I can give links if you need it)

Is there any water in the trenches? You can try putting rice in there to lower it. What is the humidity in your house? (That will impact it)
