I'd love to incubate and hatch eggs eventually but we just got our first chicks two weeks ago so it'll probably be quite a while! Haha not enough experience. Although maybe I could get one of the birds to go broody. :p

yea thats pretty normal,  I meant when you got the eggs, what size where they in relation to age of egg

Sorry. I did not trace them, only noted that they were free moving. I had already assumed that they would not hatch with that much damage. Could I have done more to help save them?

Hello everyone. .iI use wanted to say it's really hard to keep up with this thread. . Good fun though..
My chicks are due on 18th..
Hatching Delawares and barred rocks.. having a hard time not counting them before the hatch.
I've been talking to them.. I call them all girls. hope it doesn't give the roosters a complex..

so far the incubator running good.. noticed 2 spikes of 102. Sometime during night..Recorded on the thermometer. When I checked it temp was back to normal... anyway that's my update..good luck to everyone on their hatches..

I have to write something before the @, and then I click back in the sentance and then click in front again. Example:

"Hey @somebodyorother, how are your eggs?"
You have to go to the end of "@somebodyorother" and then click in the middle of "hey", and then back at the end of " @sombodyorother" and then it should work. Atleast it does for me.....

if you still don't get it i can explain again.
testing this...... thanks @Bubbles12345 it worked but what still what a pain to have to leave and grab my mouse just for a clickback anyways thanks!

@KDOGG331 yea that would be cool!!!!

oh no, you did well, I was just wondering why they were such bad shape is all, but its normal for shipped eggs. everyone should always note the size of the air cells when they get them, it tells how old the eggs are too. if you take into account how many days they were in route and how they were packed, but if they came in a material that would take moisture out of them, they would also get bigger air cells, also not helping the hatch. This is why you need to request how to get your eggs. see my point.

sweet!!!

ok sweetness.......:hugs this is for everyone's benefit....

did you ask the seller for 1-2 day old clean eggs only, DATED? Did you ask them to  be individually bubble wrapped, placed AIR CELL UP, rapped in a plastic bag, BEFORE setting the lot in newspaper packed tightly so that the newspaper doesnt draw out MORE moisture in them, and did you ask them to PLEASE  DOUBLE BOXED them babies, and ask them to be Marked FRAGILE SYRUP IN GLASS NO XRAY???? WELL, WELL  did you did you hugh???

ENVISION a big five day air cell vs a day or two day air cell, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE during travel, the more air in that egg, the more room the egg can give way in there, plus a 5 day egg has a different ph than a one and two day egg!!!! we can blame usps YES, but we have to put some blame on sellers too and ourselves for not requesting what we deserve!

Don't be afraid to ask for your eggs fresh, and wrapped a specific way!!!!  you are paying for your eggs, you are the customer! you want a good hatch from shipped eggs, its ALL in how you order your eggs and if you get them fresh and a small air cell will take that trip much better than a large air cell!!!

WORDS OF WISDOM!!!!  if the seller gives you sighs or moans or excuses, DON'T BUY THEIR EGGS!!!!  We all know what a fresh vs not fresh egg looks like, by the time we get our eggs we should have an egg that is about 5-6 days old after shipped or less![/COLOR

UMM....Ummm.. no???:barnie. They are already shipped out so this is amazing information for my next order.

Actually, I also need to add that ordered a dozen speckled Sussex but I forgot I had put a bid on eBay for a couple days ago. So that means I have almost 40 eggs headed my way. I haven't told my husband about that mistake yet.

I am so out of this computer stuff for way too long
When you find out, let me know...have same problem

I'd go with honey they won't all hatch and then half of them will be roosters so it's really not as much as it looks like. Lol
