Hi KAT!

Hey so I have some exciting news... It's day 26 for my shipped pea eggs from PA and one of the six eggs is peeping!

-Kathy
cant wait to see yer babies!!!! PEA QUEEN!!!

Pea egg hatching experiment...

Set four fresh eggs under a broody yesterday, and today I will put 10 fresh pea eggs in the RCOM, and the remainder of fresh and not so fresh and not so fresh in the Janoel.

-Kathy
sweet! KIT!

So you all remember me saying that I measured the shell temp of some eggs under broodies? The one that measured "102 point whatever" is the one that's peeping.

-Kathy
sweet!

Ok, earlier today (I think) someone mentioned Rural King? Well, since Corrid isn't carried locally at any of the Feed stores, I went online. Rural King was one of the stores. I went a little crazy and spent about $150 and the shipment was due today. As of yesterday, it was on time. This morning when I checked, this is what I found:

I watched the news this morning and saw NOTHING about a train derailment.... I'm wondering if the bottle of corrid broke?
WOW I hope all is well with your shipment

Quote: I don't think so, I think it's more a matter of dialing in the temp and humidity and turning properly. Body temp of a chicken varies from 102 to 107 I think, so that might explain why the shell temp was so high that day. Maybe I'll track shell temps on the two broodies sitting right now (one on four eggs, another on just one).

-Kathy
I hatched the three batches of peas exactly like my LF eggs and hatched great, HOWEVER they were local eggs, reminder that I incubate 100.5 100.8 calibrated and lower it at the end

I got my major parts for two bators, @sarasweatman coming to your home soon!!
just need to get the minor shtuffss!!!!1

BTW this cooler interior is 10"x21" and 12" depth and its a 52 quart
If I do more after this I would go a bit larger on the interior. I forgot this cooler is a good thick insulated cooler and that takes up
space and makes the inside smaller. keep that in mind should you order any!

Evening folks. Released Marguerite Tuesday evening, and just got back from feeding everyone before bed. She's running around, completely fine and even actively figuring out where she's at in the pecking order. Bad news around the house is that the heating element might be broken in the dishwasher again. We leave for Texas in three weeks.

That's about it on my end. How's everyone?
at least its the heating element and easy to switch out, Glad she is better!! So glad you get to visit folks again!

Evening again everyone!
Here is today's next chick related dilemma for you...
Had another chick hatch this afternoon, but it appears that it hasn't fully absorbed its yolk sac, and it is also still attached to the inside of half the shell...the chick is moving around alright and has been stood up. Any ideas what to do about it? I've seen some people say it will just dry up and fall off...though it seems rather long to just dry up and fall off :S

I "fixed" my bator lid.... Here's hoping it holds!

NO just NO

After a lot of twists and turns today, I have put up a tire swing for Duckling. Now I get to spend the next couple of days adjusting and readjusting it until I am happy with the height of it, and and I can do something with all of the extra rope. I am not 100% sure that the chickens won't lay eggs in it.

sweet!
your kidding me it started day four of incubation HOly crud
