The inner membrane (for lack of a better phrase) shrink wrapped them in. The air cells were all good. I did open the hatcher for 3 chicks that hatched on day 19. It was only to pull them out on day 21 to feed them. They hatched earlier then I planned. It is now day 22 and I have 7 left to hatch. No pipping yet (as of this morning, but I am now t home) but they all showed signs of life at lockdown.
you had chicks hatch on day 19? you ran too hot which caused them to shrink wrap. only thing you could have done is raise humidity or put a tiny hole in air cell to let more humiidity in the top to help them get it inside.

Well it's not always puppies and rainbows here on the farm. We had a disaster in one of our brooder pens. (20) 3wk old chicks dead. Trampled and crushed. Not sure why they huddled so tight to do this. Irrelevant now. Never ever had a mass crushing and been doing this a long time. You always get one or two weak ones maybe but to have 20 still blows my mind. These were replacements to go back into breeding pens. We dug 2 more out of the pile that were alive so we'll see if they make it.

We are gonna do somethin here for the table just not sure what we wanna do yet, we are takin walnuts suggestions into consideration and will study this winter before we make decisions.  why do you go with them ray?

Had a few before from a HAL, liked the friendly nature and their flavor, as well as the color ( my animals tend toward earth tone. Them a found someone local who was seeking poults!

Obviously I plan to try hatching in the spring.
