Hi everybody.

I had a hectic few days and missed several pages here. I hate not keeping up!

Any fertile eggs yet @Sally Sunshine ? I have to use mostly my mid size Serama roos for good fertility. The little ones don't do as well but I do get a few fertile eggs from their girls. It does take forever incubating lots of eggs just to get a few that work.

I finally got my shipped Serama eggs today from a different breeder. Out of 12 eggs 4 have loose, (jiggly, not completely detached), but almost normal size and shape aircells. One was broken. One has traveling air bubbles and a completely detached cell. All the rest have loose saddle cells.

They are upright in the R-com...and oops, 4 of our eggs are in there now too.....wouldn't want the hatch to be a total bust, right?

Candled my NYD HAL eggs that are in the mind reading bator. One was clear but the other 6 are developing very nicely! This incubator is holding it's temp really well. Even with our house temp dropping drastically at night. Humidity works well other than if I needed to lower it, I would have to syringe water out. Not usually the problem here since it's so dry.

Had to spend a little time this afternoon to run electrics to my coop. Was only going to do it to have power for the bird bath de-icer I am going to install in my water container before the really cold weather gets here. Don't relish the thought of having to lug buckets of water every day. I think I'll also install a light on a timer to see if I can get an extra egg or two now that the days are getting short. Almost wish I'd rented a ditch witch, but I pecked away at it with a shovel until the trench was done. I'm just glad it was only 50 feet!

LOL, stressed because I have to go to a fancy holiday party and I'm not the cocktail and chit chat kind. I'll survive though.

Good luck on them all, specially the shipped babies, those are tough for sure.

Haven't you heard? That's why God invented extension cords. Everything else failing, run HD extension cords to the coop with a power strip. Just be sure to wrap any connections with electrical tape to keep them from shorting out in wet conditions. I did it for years when the barn & coop were 200'+ from the nearest power source.
