Poultry dust containing permethrin is what I use most, but I also use 5% Sevin powder. Ivermectin will_not_treat poultry lice. Search the BYC site for posts by Dawg53 for lice treatments.

I read somewhere-probably here, 'cause I rarely leave here- that Sevin should not be used for chickens. No idea who or why; just FYI


I've also seen people say that, but have not seen people post any official documentation that says why not to use it. Fowl mites in CA are somewhat resistant to it, so I use mostly permethrin.

YES do not use sevin! It is banned for use in poultry, and the egg withdraw is lifetime! (If you have used it once, yu should nevery eat that bird's eggs again)
I think its a bit overkill, but you still shouldnt use it.
