It also has a swollen head, which I've seen many times in peachicks, but never in chicken chicks. Anyone know what can cause this? -Kathy
I have seen it too in Peachicks especially and unhatched chicken chicks. Birds have cervical air sacs that extend up the neck. I think that maybe when a chick is in difficulty these sacs get over expanded with air (and or maybe fluid) when the chick is struggling in the egg. They may even rupture.

Yes I have 100 eggs due to hatch Wednesday and 30 next monday. About to check my hatch for Wednesday and see if I need to remove any.

Good for you make sure to let us know how your hatch goes...try to take pictures of the candling if you can. It is really cool to see the chicks develop
