Good morning everyone!
Sally, I certainly wasn't awake at that hour by choice!
Major migraine hit about dinner time last night, meds knocked me out quickly but not for long. Tried everything I have in the past to resolve it, but no dice.
Took more meds, and figured I would play catch up at 2am, until they kicked in.
Feeling better now, if I could just shake the aura from the migraine, and the hangover from the meds. Gonna be a long, slow day with the curtains closed.
cc love your avy!!! YAYAAAAAA there is our cc!! I am sorry about the migraines, I feel your pain.I hope you knock all of it out soon.
make sure you check temps under the lights, our one bator has them too low and I keep eggs away from directly under them. at some point I will cut some alum or cans to put under them, just havent felt the need since I have so many of the to use now.
I figured that's how it worked.
Also totally unrelated, but I wanted to share the cookbook my best friend got me for Christmas.
male or female writer? curious and I am too lazy to pop the pic up from back at the post.
I need to clean out the brooder today, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I was lazy (read: it was snowing) when I brought my new birds home a while back and I didn't clean out the carriers, so they didn't get disinfected. Now I have nothing to put the chicks in to clean out the brooder.
I suck at planning ahead.
I need one cleaned too, so when ya finished come have at mine.... chicks need out of the bator.
Some of Chicks that hatched from the recent batch. These are the ones I hatched for a friend.
Red and blue Marks on heads/backs are sharpie to ID different genotypes (and not the bloody result of fighting raptors)
WARNING THESE PICS MAY BE DISTURBING
Yup -they have no feathers
in a very weird way, I sorta love them but I would make them sweaters and have harmonyann play dress up
I cant multi quote for days now! it keeps dropping some!
NOW I understand the obsession you have!! Must have seen some good stuff there!
Hi y'all! My Call duckling that hatched Friday is very active and seems to be doing great. I have 8 Muscovy eggs in lockdown on day 31 right now. I'm really hoping that a few hatch, but they're shipped eggs with pretty rough looking air cells so I'm not too hopeful.
thats it I am going to ask for eggs on my local fb group!!!
They're almost that small as adults
Look at how small the eggs are they come out of.
That looks awesome @Fire Ant Farm what a great trip. The first roo picture looks like a red jungle fowl.
Is that Angkor Wat in the last picture? I love the terracing. My daughter has some pictures like that. Few chicken pictures though. Most of hers are of elephants, water buffalo and dogs. I'd love to see Ha Long Bay. Was it foggy when you were there? I've never been to Asia. My son has been there twice. He spent a month in China seeing all the hot spots; Xiaolin temple, Terra Cotta Soldiers, a remote section of the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Shanghai, Lhasa, more temples than he could count - and oh yeah, the pollution in Beijing.
A couple years later he went to Thailand and Cambodia when he visited his girlfriend who was going to college in Thailand.
I think his experience was why my daughter decided to go there.
I begged her once again to squeeze me into her backpack this morning. One of the things I miss most is the plate of an amazing varieties of the freshest fruit served at every meal and many grown right in the backyard. She'll be landing in San Jose in about a half hour. Then 3 buss rides to La Fortuna and their waterfalls, hot springs and views of the Arenal volcano. She'll be in La Fortuna by 5.
CH gets a hug from paddler, I hug you when I see you but never get any???? how does that work?
I pray her safe and wondrous travels
see they gotcha!!
sweet little devils aintthey
GOOD JOB BENNY!!! early weigh in?
Kathy, you should have a animal hospital supply house in your area. Ours is for the farmers, ask someone with a big farm where they go for supplies. I asked someone local at a fruit stand they had out front... ours is called hubers animal supply you name it they have it.... and ours is dirt cheap compared to anything online.
oh no, someone is gonna buy eggs!
12 hour hatch window for the projects and legbar, one egg early DIS I pulled...
serama are doing nothing,
I think I screwed up by setting them in three days instead of two cause I am dumb and forgetful
probably gonna drown cause of the high humidity.
I FOUND A BIG NO NO in hatching, This was the first time I pulled empty shells out early.
I had a trampled chick and it looks like they pulled his umbilical strings at hatch, he must have bled
and they just had a pecking field day on him after that. Had the shells been in there,
it probably would have given him some space to hatch and dry up because he would have been surrounded
by empty shells and some "cover" he is actually in this image, I didnt see him until I checked the serama.
the fan is not the reason! you had the same issue with the first hatch!!!! over all its better!! you need to rememeber the first and second hatch errors!! you should have learned from them!!
just like when you blamed the bad hatch on washing eggs!! when it was temp issues
thanks Mike! I think this is the closest hatch window I ever had!
