If it were my coop, I wouldn't put the entrance/exit in the floor because it'll remove a large portion of it. Depending on how many birds will be in it, floor space can be a valuable commodity. I would leave it as positioned as is (back against the wall), put a ramp on one end, and a nesting box on the other end. This will work fine with free-range, or a small pen... unless of course you intend to cage in the base, which would require a floor opening. I would also close off the end by the nesting box with plywood to give a "protected area" including a roost for them to sleep in/on. Just my thoughts on a remodel...would you mind taking a look at the picture I posted of the rabbit hutch/grow out/extra coop I found today? With all your recent coop expansions, I figured you were the guy! I thought it was @Pensmaster , and he referred me to you. I want to convert it and need ideas of best beatbox placement and how I'd make the ramp come up through the bottom, or if that's even a decent idea. Thank you!
