A true Ameraucana would be a better sire, as long as he is from a line that lays blue, not greenish eggs. Rumpless birds often have fertility issues, seem the tail helps a lot with balance.

Another great option would be a Cream Legbar. It really depends on what other traits you are trying to fix because those birds are so different in many other traits. Obtain the blue egg laying bird that is closest to what other traits you are breeding for, getting rid of a pea comb, for instance, is a lot more work than just starting with a Legbar.

Raising lots of fun poultry: Cream Legbars, Welbars, Bielefelders, California Greys, and 6 colors / sizes of Ameraucanas

Also Turkeys, Guineas and Peafowl

I have eggs and chicks available for sale from some of these breeds, details at my website

Thanks! I'm not giving up. Already have 12+ eggs in there again. 😁 This is my third hatch only and this has been my worst hatch ever so actually I'm wondering if my thermometers/hygrometers are off. Anyone know any easy way to calibrate them?

NO lol  so what is your update Kathy? @Jessimom

Hi everyone!!

Ok, my candling update....  Last night I candled the eggs in the LG.  These went in on 3/2.  Somehow there were more eggs in there than I had accounted for so I don't know how many I looked at. I'll re-count after I've had some coffee.  I only pulled 2 of my silkie eggs that were clears.  They were from the Grey hen that the rooster doesn't love.  Air cells look spot on!  My humidity had dropped to the 20's, so we added a sponge last week. I'll keep an eye on it going forward.

Of the shipped Silkie/Sizzle/Frilkie eggs, 3 seemed to have the start of blood rings, but nothing definite yet.  The rest looked AWESOME.  The shipped Cream Legbars were too dark to see much, but I did see SOMETHING in there, so I think they are doing ok. Oops, I accidentally had 2 eggs in there upside down.  They are VERY round eggs.  The air cells were toward the bottom.  I flipped them over, their air cells look a little small, let's hope I didn't kill them. The rest of my silkies look really good.

I have a very pretty Deathbator that I'm considering using for a few days.  That is where I started the above shipped eggs.  First 5 days in the Incuview/deathbator, before they were moved to the LG and they are all developing.  I'm thinking I can move all the questionable eggs over here?

@Sally Sunshine, I'll give you a hatching update for the list after I've counted everything!

I will try to catch up on the 13 pages I'm behind now!

Happy hatching everyone!

I am not sure on the eggs, you need to be your best judge on the shipped ones.  Best of luck with them!!

Your birthday is in April, April 1st or 5th!!!

if you don't tell me I will appoint APRIL FOOLS AS YOUR OFFICIAL DAY!!  @MotorcycleChick

Go for it! But why the fifth, and why April? And if you think April because of the HAL, how can it be early April? And if I have to set eggs in April for the HAL, how can I have been born in April if you mentioned duck eggs, and they take up to 35 days?

The dog has been puking. Wanna see a picture?!

NO PICS PLEASE!!!

UM just because I say its the fifth, but if you say not its the first fool!!!

I can't hatch out anything 'til I get another run built; only have the one, where the rooster & 5 layers live. Before I put up a 2nd run, I have to finish the coop I'm building. Not likely I'll get all that done by April.

seriously????  ummmmm whites!!!  what MC said!!!
