Me too!!
Not at all, just crunches a little lolI know. Therein lies the problem I have with the feathers and beak. Do Filipinos spit out the beak?
But hey, it's all good animal protein right?
A raccoon wouldn't turn up its nose at it.
I think that is Joey version of Balut@casportpony , what do you think the chances of a chick surviving after it hatches with what appears to be pieces of it's yolk sac stuck to the shell? It cmae from one of the worst saddled air cells in this batch, but it managed to pip and zip on it's own. I had it sitting in an egg crate, so when it didn't hop out of the shell, I figured it was because of it's position. After letting it sit like that for about an hour, I tipped the shell so it could push out. When it did, it's innards were stuck to the shell. I eased it back into it's shell, then moved it to my other incubator. I figured it would die soon, since it appeared rather weak. That was at 7am this morning. When I came home for lunch at 12:30pm, it was still alive and chirping up a storm. I decided to at least try to do something, since the contents of the shell had dried somewhat and there was something that resembled a dried umbilical cord attaching the mass and abdomen. I used sterile scissors to cut the cord fairly close to the abdomen, which was thankfully closed, then patted it wound down with betadine. There was little-to-no bleeding whatsoever. Since I don't have any electrolyte handy, I gave it some artificially flavored fruit punch, thinking the sugar might give it a boost. It's resting now, or maybe dying, but it's still alive. This is the chick...
That looks tasty.
Not in a million years! That looks tasty.
OK, this is a poll. For the people that follow this thread - who eats balut eggs?
I'm so sorry.Good afternoon all. Hundreds of pages behind, no hope. I thought as I ate my lunch I'd go back a few pages. Well, I am now ready to give my lunch away. Thanks!
I somehow killed 25 of my 33 babies I moved out to the coop, on their first night outside. They didn't figure out how to go under the heat plate, got wet and died. I can't think of anything else that would have killed them. They were in a cage, in a cage in a coop. So nothing got into their area. They were as far from the heat plate as possible, some were all together in a big pile, like they were trying to get warm, but most were spread out near the water dish that had leaked.
