That's how I approached my first hatch - convinced they would all die. I was flabbergasted when I got a bunch of live chicks!!! Magic!!!
Thanks - it hurts SO BAD this morning. Hurts like a bad tooth ache does, where you kind of can't think. Leaving for doctor's appt in about 15 minutes...
Why You Should Be Eating More Rabbit (Recipes Included)
I found this interesting.... is it true?
What if I told you that there is an animal out there that has one of the highest percentages of digestible protein, is loaded with more calcium and phosphorus than any other meat, and is one of the least expensive livestock to raise and process? One of these animals can produce roughly six pounds of meat for every one pound from cattle, on the same feed and water. That, coupled with the highest ratio of meat to bone, means that both farmer and consumer are getting more meat for their bucks. And if you have any sort of dietary restrictions, no worries: We’re talking the lowest in cholesterol, fat and sodium. What is this magical creature? Chicken, you say? Guess again: We’re talking rabbit!
Yep - I had actually originally intended to get rabbits as super sustainable, etc. But didn't for a couple reasons (partially because it's really hot here, which is hard for them). If anything, one reason to get them was that I could never find them to buy - I think they're delicious!
Actually, I get my beef from a local farm, I see where the steers are raised and I know they are killed in the most humane way possible. They are grassfed and have acres of pasture to roam..... There is 1\4 steer in my freezer right now. Sill working on finding a local source of chicken and pork......
Know what's funny? I actually did have a burger the other night!
Um, Banti, am I missing something? Um, BACKYARD?! (That's pretty local...)
I strongly suggest a Super Soaker water gun with pump action. Keeps roosters in line from a distance and with no muss, no fuss. Also hysterical to see how flustered they get...
Yes, I saw I am sorry especially because I love those Brahma chicken butts and want some. I am also sorry, because feeling unwell, you don't need to be upset at yourself too.
I still don't know on my test. With the big seminar (my instructor's instructor who is an eighth degree black belt and who was taught by Mr.Parker himself coming to teach) this weekend he may award belts then. He did teach four of us who tested techniques for our next belts last night though which could be a hint
Have a great day with healthy really nice puppies!
I hated to sell him, but I didn't like having to watch my back and wear boots while in the coop. I guess there is just too many good roos to keep a bad one.... I will be getting more sultans (LOVE the breed) and keep some nice specimens.
Yeah, you don't need to put up with feeling threatened/afraid in your chicken yard... Glad you got that resolved...
Banti used to have a rooster named Bubbles (Bubbles #1).
