Broody hen raising chicks

Thread Starter
After reading this forum we decided to give our broody hen a second chance at brooding her chicks. Previously she was very distressed to be "cooked up" with them. So today we put her 8 chicks in the outdoor coup with her. She ran straight over to the box holding the chicks and immediately started herding them out etc. Mother Nature at its best.

Good for you, let them be as natural as possible, I only confine my broody until all chicks are strong and ready to go, around a week old, then they rejoin the flock.
Chickens, muscovy ducks, turkeys, donkeys , goats, dogs, fish, parakeets, a parrot, and a cat.

Chickens and dogs are healing to the soul.

I brake for squirrels.

Some of my birds.
