7 wee old White Rock has been fluffed up and not moving much. Yesterday was fine but today not. She is outside in an urban coop inside my big chicken run. It has been raining for 4 days straight. Just a drizzling rain that has made the floor of the coop damp. Could she just be cold? Is she sick? Temp here is 65 but it feels colder with the rain.

She may be cold, but I would also worry about coccidiosis at that age.Puffing up or hunched posture, lethargy, weakness, not eating, and diarrhea sometimes with blood are the signs. The treatment is Corid powder or liquid in the water. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid, or 1.5 tsp of the powder, per gallon of water for 5 days. You can divide that by 4 and put it in a quart waterer, too. Wet weather can increase the incidence of coccidiosis. I would bring her inside in a crate tonight to keep warm, and watch her to see what her droppings are like, and if she is eating or drinking.

Thank you so much. I have Corid on hand so that will be done asap. I also think we are going to end up putting a tarp over the outside run. The urban chicken coop is covered but not enough to keep rain out for days on end. Thank you again for the dosing. I was having trouble figuring that out.

Well Sweetie Pie is back with her flock. I really have no idea what was wrong with her. Her poop was normal and she was eating and drinking. Maybe she doesn't like the rain and time change. Lol. Thank you for your help. Now if only I could have an expert come and hand hold me through the integrating of my flocks.
