Hey just found one of my silkies trying to sit on this massive egg which obviously didn't come from her but just wanted to know if it was a problem getting an egg this size. probably my most likely breed to lay this are one of my light sussex hens.

Thanks.

by the way in the picture below, the eggs surrounding it are reasonably large themselves.

That is a really big egg, someone's bottom must be sore, I've gotten a couple over the year, that will be a double yolker for sure, and perhaps the elusive triple yolker, as long as the hen got it out she should be okay.

Wow .. just WOW!

That had to hurt! Is there a duck or swan somewhere missing an egg?

I only have bantams and carried 4 eggs from the coop today in one hand …. those 4 eggs probably would fit in that one egg with room to spare!

If you crack it open, can you let us know whether it was a double or even triple please?

I'd weigh that puppy then break it open to see what's inside...I'm betting another hard shell egg in there.

New layer?

It's been cracked!!!

Weighing in at 140 grams (a standard egg being only 60 i think).
It turned out to only be a single yoke surprisingly, but unfortunately we were unable to eat it as when we tried to poach it there was so much egg white that it didn't hold together.

I will send photos soon!!
