so I have 2 females 1 male. I went outside yesterday and they were mating when should I expect eggs? I've been leaving a light on out there for them

Hi,
I can't answer your question as I am new to bobwhites, but I was told by a very experienced byc'er who has raised bobwhites for more than 10 years that you can't leave two females in the same pen as a male once they are breeding, because the females will frequently kill each other - unlike other kinds of quail where you can do the typical breeding trio.

I just wanted to pass that on, as it is really hard to find information about breeding bobwhites, and they are so very different than the other quails.

waiting to see if anyone answers your question about when eggs might happen - I thought breeding season was something like march to september but maybe it is different in texas.

I did see a quail try to mate another, but mine are young - just about 5 and a half months.
