Hen lost her eye

Thanks for advice birdhead but she is a pet. Just like a dog I have to give her a chance. I was worried today vet might say time to put her down but luckily she was hopeful for her. I understand not all chickens are pets and that's ok. Just gonna take us longer to give up on her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your poor girl's injury! I hope that dog won't be able to come back.

If you need any help with the tube feeding, a member here has a lot of experience with it and she might be someone you'd like to contact. You can send casportpony a PM (private message, the link is in the upper right corner of your screen) to get her attention and ask for some assistance.

Good luck to you and your girl, hope things work out well for both of you!

Regarding the dog she was dumped and I fostered. We had to speed up the process and she is at another home. She never had any problems with chickens until that day. My chicken loves dog food and jumped in feet first. My German Shepherd came up, she pecked him and he went on. Then this dog came at her, the chicken jumped out of food bowl but dog still went after her. Thank God my gf saw it happen and was able to stop it. She said the dog would not have stopped otherwise.
We did first tube feeding at home today. Went ok other than her discomfort. Luckily we are nurses so some of that helps. The vet did demonstration in office which was helpful. We are taking it day by day. She has a big support group bc all of our friends love her lol.

I am sorry I do not have any advice to offer as I have not had a chicken with this issue. I do wish you the best of luck with her.
