They are already quite larger than my brother's Road Island Reds & his is Cock almost 16I am gonna keep at least 2 of the roosters & i have already picked them out & i am keeping 1 of them my cousin is wanting one to put with his Black Jersey Giants pullets all of his roosters died or were killed by a stupid half wild stray cat it got 7 of our mixed breeds & TRUST ME IT WON"T KILL NO MORE OF ANY ONES my boxer got loose & tore it into poetic justice i guess it did the same to our babies . I am wondering when my pullets will begin to lay for me ya recon fellas ? I am gonna put up some pictures of my flock when i find the time i really do love my Black Jersey Giants

26 week old, 6 month, hatchery birds should be ready to drop eggs any day now. I imagine the combs are bright red now. Something to watch for is if they are squatting for the cockerels when they mate them or not. With all pullets birds they squat for us humans when a week or so from lay. That has me a bit worried as I'm at 29 weeks with my standard bred birds and they have yet to submit to the cockerels. Daylight is dwindling here in the north. Perhaps if I finally cull the extra boys out the lessening of stressful attention will help them along. Perhaps if I convince myself it will aid it will motivate me to finally set up and butcher those bad boys. Really been procrastinating on this years butchering, never did any for grilling when they were younger and now I'm just feeding mouths that aren't going to grow much bigger for roasting this year.

Yep there combs are Strawberry Red & they are starting to lay down for the guys lol i have been told that The Black Jersey Giants are slow to mature & start laying I just want to know what to expect from my girls man they are so very beautiful that green sheen they have when they are in the direct sunlight only God Almighty can make something so beautiful & a little from Cackle to lol

Beautiful! I have one Jersey Giant Pullet that I got from Meyer Hatchery in early August of this year. With that said she is only 16 weeks and I'm a LONG way from an egg from her. My 12 year old daughter named her "Dragonfire":
