she is an americauna i think and i know they take like 32 weeks to lay but i have to know becuase her size has almost tripled in the last few weeks , but she is definetly not a rooster

You'll know she is close to laying when:

1. Her face and comb turn a very bright red
2. She squats when you put your hand on her back
3. There is at least a 2 finger width space between her pelvic bones.

I too have a hen I was wondering g about. But I cannot put my hand on her, they all hate me. But if I did catch her, how would I know where to feel for pelvis bones to check width?

I checked mine when they roosted for the night. They are easy to catch then. When you find those pelvic bones you will know it. Start by holding your pullet in arm, head facing toward your back. Now feel in front of her vent area. You'll finally feel some bones just in front of her vent. The bones kinda make a V shape. If there is no space between the bones she's not ready to lay. If there are 2 finger widths between those bones she is ready to lay any day.

I didn't know what I was feeling for the first I tried this. However, once you feel the difference from one that is not ready to lay and one that is ready you'll know the difference.
