I'm quite new to the chicken-keeping scene and I was wondering if I could have a opinion or two from those knowledgeable on the topic. Help would be greatly appreciated!
I put 9 eggs under my 2 D'uccle's that are (jointly) hatching the eggs. Day 21 was Monday (2nd of November) and none hatched then. I got one baby on the 3rd and 2 on the 4th . However none hatched today (5th). There are still 6 eggs under them both which haven't yet pipped. Now both of them are torn between taking the chicks for a walk-about of the coop and sitting on the eggs. Does anyone have a suggestion? I've read about the water test to test if there are chicks in the eggs, should I try that on day 25? Or place the eggs in the incubator? I'm worried that should there be a late chick, if it had a chance of hatching that may be gone as the mothers are up and down all the time. Or am I worrying for nothing? This is my first time brooding chicks (and the hens as well) so I'm not quite sure how this all goes.
Any suggestions would be most welcome and greatly appreciated.
