Boys

I'm having trouble I have 9 hens 3 rooster I hatch two this year 4 hen are new this spring the boys are beating up my girls my coop is big enough do I have to many boy's how do I choose which one goes thanks

Get rid of all but one..sounds harsh but your females cannot cope with them all...find one that is friendly to you and nurture him..get to handle the one that is friendly..he will respond to your handling of him..sadly all the rest need to be re-homed or sent to freezer camp.

 

I have just sent four to freezer camp...it is the best for your girls...

When we hatch at home it is likely that we have a ratio of 50/50 chance of female/male in the chicks....we cannot choose what we hatch but I wish you luck in re-homing the excess males if you can...

 

Sadly, not many Roosters can be re-homed...
