I just bought my first bag of scratch & was wondering how you give it to the chickens. They are 8 months old, free ranging & are feed pellet food & oyster shells as they wish. I also feed them left over off our table. I'm really not even sure if I needed to buy scratch but seemed like the thing to do lol

I've always just scattered scratch on the ground. In the winter, when the chickens are confined to their coop, I would recommend scattering several handfuls in the bedding so they have to dig and scratch around to find it. You can always hand feed it as well.
